NEW DELHI: A fresh wave of bomb threats rattled Delhi on Wednesday, with five schools receiving threatening emails, prompting swift evacuations and heightened security measures. This marks the third straight day of such threats targeting educational institutions in the capital, officials confirmed.
The schools affected include St. Thomas School in Dwarka (which received its second threat in under 24 hours), Vasant Valley School in Vasant Kunj, Mother's International School in Hauz Khas, Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar, and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodi Estate.
Staff members who had stayed overnight were promptly evacuated as a precaution, while Delhi Police deployed bomb disposal units, dog squads, and cybercrime experts to the sites. All campuses were thoroughly searched, though no suspicious items were found at the time of reporting.
According to police sources, nearly 10 schools and a college have received similar threats over the past three days. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities treating the matter with utmost seriousness and maintaining heightened vigilance across all educational institutions in the city.
