A 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal’s Bajhang district in Sudur Paschim province on Sunday afternoon, the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre (NEMRC) said. The tremor, recorded at 12:09 pm local time, had its epicentre in the Saipal mountain region of Bajhang.
Officials said there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. Tremors were also felt in neighbouring western districts, including Bajura, according to NEMRC.
Nepal, located in one of the world’s most active seismic zones (IV and V), experiences frequent earthquakes and remains highly vulnerable to major seismic events.
