GURGAON: A 22-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife at their rented accommodation in the Bajghera area, police said.
The victim, Gunjan (22), a native of Samastipur in Bihar, was found dead with severe head and facial injuries. The couple worked as daily-wage labourers and had recently moved into the rented room.
Suspicion arose on March 24 after the landlord and neighbours noticed the house had remained locked since the previous night. When there was no response by afternoon, they looked inside and found the woman lying motionless on the floor, following which police were alerted.
A team from Bajghera police station reached the spot and observed multiple injury marks on the body. Her husband, Sunil, had been missing since the night of the incident, raising suspicion about his involvement.
Police said the room had been rented to Sunil on March 20 on the recommendation of his brother-in-law, Jeevan, who had previously stayed there. Jeevan had reportedly visited the couple on March 23, a day before the body was discovered.
Based on the landlord’s complaint, an FIR was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges of murder and common intention.
Sunil was arrested from Gurgaon on March 26. During questioning, he allegedly confessed that a domestic argument escalated on the night of March 23, after which he attacked his wife, leading to her death.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine whether any other person was involved. The role of the brother-in-law mentioned in the complaint is also being examined.
