KYIV/MOSCOW: Ukraine launched a large-scale drone attack on Sunday, targeting St. Petersburg and prompting the closure of the city’s airport for nearly five hours, according to Russian authorities. The strike coincided with President Vladimir Putin's observance of Russia’s Navy Day in the city, despite the cancellation of the traditional naval parade due to security concerns.

Russia's defence ministry claimed that its air defence systems shot down 291 Ukrainian drones across various regions during the day.
