Mohali: A man dressed in traditional Nihang attire and his two female associates allegedly attacked an interstate police team with swords in Kharar, Mohali district, on Saturday, injuring two constables before being overpowered.

The police had gone to Chaumajra village to arrest the accused, identified as Amandeep Singh Ausan, in connection with a snatching case. Amandeep was wanted for allegedly assaulting toll staff and snatching ₹55,000 at Bhadroia toll plaza in Damtal, Himachal Pradesh, on the night of June 26–27. He reportedly used kirpans during the incident and was accompanied by the two women, who also allegedly took part in the attack.

According to Kharar DSP Karan Singh Sandhu, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab police jointly tracked Amandeep to Chaumajra. As the team attempted to arrest him, he and his associates allegedly attacked the officers with swords.

Constables Sukhmander Singh and Davinder Singh of Kharar City police station sustained injuries, with one requiring 8–9 stitches on his arm. Amandeep Singh has been arrested, while the two women have been detained for questioning.
