NAGPUR: A 38-year-old café owner, Avinash Bhusari alias Rajat, was critically injured after four assailants on two motorbikes opened fire on him near Ram Nagar in the early hours of Tuesday. The incident took place within the Ambazari police station limits.

Bhusari, a resident of Jaitala, was rushed to a private hospital and remains in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds inflicted at close range.

According to police, Bhusari had gone out with his office guard and office boy to enjoy an ice dish when the shooters arrived and began firing. “They were at the spot when the attackers reached and suddenly opened fire. The motive is still unclear,” a senior police official said.

Sources revealed that Bhusari was a regular at the location and often visited with his staff. Following the incident, senior officials, including Commissioner of Police Ravinder Singal and Joint CP Nisar Tamboli, arrived at the scene. The crime branch has been deployed to investigate and track down the attackers.

A case of attempted murder has been registered at Ambazari police station.
