A 44-year-old doctor attached to the ENT department at Jagjivanram Railway Hospital was found dead in her cabin on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Dr Anuja Kulkarni. A police team sent her body to JJ Hospital for postmortem examination, and an accidental death case has been registered.
Kulkarni had several surgeries scheduled at the hospital that day. When she failed to arrive for the procedures, colleagues attempted to contact her on her mobile phone but received no response.
Concerned, a junior doctor went to Kulkarni’s cabin and knocked on the door but did not receive any reply. Looking through the glass panel, the junior doctor noticed Kulkarni lying on the floor near a chair inside the cabin.
Hospital staff and senior officials were immediately alerted, and doctors examined her. She was declared dead shortly afterwards.
Police from Nagpada Police Station reached the hospital and began an investigation into the incident. Authorities said the exact cause of death will be determined after the postmortem report.
