A police constable in his late 30s has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor who sought assistance after being raped by her neighbor on the pretext of marriage. In December last year, the girl and her mother approached Bommanahalli Police, alleging that the neighbor had been harassing the teen for marriage. The girl had not revealed anything about the rape, and her mother claimed she was unaware.
An investigating officer stated that the constable threatened the girl, claiming he had recorded the assault on his phone and would upload it to social media if she reported him.
Later, the girl confided in her mother about both incidents of sexual assault. On February 13, her mother filed a police complaint against both accused, leading to an FIR under the POCSO Act. The neighbor was arrested the same day.
Police revealed that the constable, who is married and has a minor son, fled the city after the FIR was registered but was apprehended a few days later.
