KOLKATA: A third-year undergraduate student of Jadavpur University’s English department was declared dead on Thursday night after being rescued in an unconscious state from a campus pond opposite the UG Arts building.
Police said fellow students and security guards pulled her out and rushed her to KPC Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. A hospital source said it appeared to be a case of suspected drowning.
The incident has once again raised concerns over security measures on the university campus.
