DHAKA: India on Sunday told the new Bangladesh government that it is keen to deepen people-centric cooperation across all sectors and advance bilateral ties in a positive, constructive and forward-looking manner based on mutual interests and shared benefits.
Both sides agreed to maintain regular engagement to further strengthen relations, which had experienced strain during the 18-month tenure of the Muhammad Yunus-led interim government.
India’s message was conveyed by Pranay Verma, the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, during his meetings with Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed.
Speaking to reporters after the meetings, Verma said India looks forward to working closely with Bangladesh in a forward-looking and collaborative spirit to enhance bilateral cooperation.
