RAJKOT: A Jaguar fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in a field near Suvarda village, approximately 12 km from Jamnagar city, on Wednesday night, killing one pilot and injuring another.
Jamnagar Superintendent of Police (SP) Premsukh Delu confirmed the fatality and stated that the injured pilot had been admitted to the state-run GG Hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred during a training mission and ignited a massive fire in the field. The cause of the crash remains unknown. “The aircraft caught fire after crash-landing,” Delu said.
Emergency response teams, including police and firefighters, rushed to the site to contain the situation. The loud explosion and thick smoke sent shockwaves through the nearby village. Locals, alerted by the noise, rushed to the site, where they found the injured pilot and later discovered the other pilot deceased.
