AHMEDABAD: A 32-year-old woman engineer has alleged that she was physically assaulted and abused during a confrontation over two-wheeler parking in Chandkheda on April 18. The incident, involving the operator of a local Ayurveda clinic, was formally reported to Chandkheda police on Monday.
According to the FIR, the complainant, a deputy engineer with the state government, had gone out for dinner with her husband—an assistant professor at a government engineering college—and their two-year-old son. Around 9 PM, they parked their two-wheeler on the service road opposite the Gujarat Naturopathy and Ayurveda Clinic.
The situation escalated when Prem Gupta (55), the clinic's operator, allegedly began shouting at the woman's husband about the parking. When he offered to move the vehicle, Gupta reportedly continued to hurl abuses.
The complainant stated that Gupta then verbally abused and physically assaulted her, allegedly hitting her with a slipper and attacking her and her husband with a chair. The FIR further alleges: “Prem Gupta nabbed me by the hair, pulled it violently, and beat me with a wooden object.”
The woman also accused a male employee at the clinic, identified as Vinod, of molesting her under the guise of offering help, while a female staffer allegedly pulled her hair during the scuffle. A bystander eventually intervened and stopped the altercation.
The complainant said Gupta later blocked their exit, threatened to kill them, and damaged their two-wheeler by pushing it to the ground, breaking its headlight. The damage was estimated at around ₹2,000.
Based on the complaint, Chandkheda police have registered an FIR against Gupta and two staff members under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges of assault, molestation, criminal intimidation, and unlawful restraint.
