LUCKNOW: Five members of a family were killed and four others injured after a speeding UPSRTC bus collided with an auto-rickshaw in Uttar Pradesh’s Sant Kabir Nagar on Tuesday night.

The tragic accident took place around 8:45 PM when the family, residents of Budha village, was returning home in the auto-rickshaw. The bus, reportedly approaching from the Basti side, rammed into the vehicle with considerable force.

According to police, three victims—Sarvjeet (32), his 3-year-old son Arjun, and Bhikhna Devi (45)—died on the spot. The injured included Murati Devi (35), Sarita (30), Geeta (40), Indrajeet, and Amar. All were initially rushed to the district hospital for treatment.

Later, Murati Devi, the wife of Raju, succumbed to her injuries at Gorakhpur Medical College, where she had been referred along with two others in critical condition. Authorities confirmed that a fifth person also died, though their identity was still being verified at the time of reporting.
