New Delhi: A tea vendor was killed on Thursday when a Delhi Police PCR van went out of control and rammed into his stall in the Mandir Marg area.

Police said the van’s driver mistakenly pressed the accelerator, causing the vehicle to surge forward, mount the pavement, and hit the victim. The deceased was identified as Ghanshyam Tiwari, who ran a small tea stall on Panchkuian Road.

Witnesses said the van suddenly swerved to the roadside before crashing into Tiwari’s stall. He sustained critical injuries and died on the spot despite rescue efforts.

An investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances of the accident and whether there was any lapse on the part of the driver.
