MUMBAI: A 25-year-old airline employee has been arrested after a 23-year-old airhostess from Mira-Bhayander accused him of raping her at his residence in the early hours of June 30.

According to the FIR, the two had gone out for dinner on June 29 before heading to the accused's flat, where the alleged assault occurred.

The accused was arrested near Sahar Airport on Saturday. Police are investigating whether he was at the airport for work or attempting to flee.

In her complaint, the woman stated that both she and the accused worked as crew members for the same airline. After dinner on June 29, the accused invited her to his flat, and she agreed without suspecting any harm. She later described how, once inside, they spoke briefly before the accused sexually assaulted her. She approached the police with the complaint on July 18.

While the police have registered the FIR, they are also looking into the reasons behind the delay in the woman's complaint.

Some sources mistakenly reported that the assault took place on an aircraft, but the police have clarified that it occurred at the accused's flat.
