NEW DELHI: More than 260 passengers on a Virgin Atlantic flight from London to Mumbai have been stranded at Turkiye’s Diyarbakır Airport for over 24 hours after their aircraft was diverted due to a medical emergency and later grounded by a technical issue.

“Flight VS358 from Heathrow to Mumbai on April 2 was canceled following an urgent medical diversion to Diyarbakır, after which technical inspections were required,” a Virgin Atlantic spokesperson said.

Passengers, however, expressed frustration over the airline’s handling of the situation, alleging a lack of basic facilities and communication. “We were kept on board for five hours after landing. Then we were asked to deplane due to a technical issue, but there were no arrangements made for us,” said Sagar Kochhar, a stranded passenger, speaking to The Times of India from Turkiye.

Many passengers complained that Virgin Atlantic had not provided clear information on when they would finally reach Mumbai. The airline, meanwhile, stated that it was making every effort to get passengers to their destination as soon as possible.
